Just put a 512 GB SSD on my i7 w/ 16Gb RAM PC (under Windows 8.1) and it boots now for 15 seconds only! Just before I moved to an SSD my old drive was spinning like forever even after loading up the Windows. Now after a full and fresh installation it is lightning fast – 15 seconds for a cold-start boot-up!

it seems only me who failed to transfer the data from the HDD to SSD using more than 5 different free software: samsung tools, macrium, easeus, minitool magic, etc… all failed, but when I call the computer shop, they say they can do it.. but secretly, i dont know how youtube can recommend it 😆

I wonder what happend to this 840 series over time. Until today, 7 years is quite enough for a performance review

I can vouch for the jump in performance. Recently upgraded from a WD Black 7200 rpm drive and when I ran the Win7 performance test [scale of 1.0 to 7.9] the hard drive performance went to 7.9 (max). Boot up time is cut by about 2/3.

So i have an idea… So what if you install a new SSD without installing the software? I have terrible hard drives and i want to start off with a fresh start. So if i get an install kit for w10 with the SSD, will it work?

    Do you know what?

A couple of days ago, I have upgraded my Acer TravelMate 5720 laptop from:
    2.00GB DDR2-L RAM, 120GB 5400RPM HDD (HITACHI GST)

    To:
    4.00GB DDR2-L RAM, 128GB SATA SSD (SAMSUNG)

Before, I was so pissed at how slow it was, but now, it is so fast, although the 1.8GHz dual core processor, the slow graphics card and the slow internet is keeping it slow. But still, at least an SSD will enhance the performance of my laptop to a decent level. Not to mention that I got the whole 4.00 GB to use compared with modern computers which often takes off a couple of MBs off the RAM.

I plan to do the same upgrade, but with the newer version of the Samsung SSD.

Do you know if the latest SSD below which I can buy on amazon is compatible with my toshiba laptop ? ….

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM)

Please let me know. And Thanks for the info and demo…I am now dying to upgrade my laptop.
